Sudenly it is the last evening of my time in DK again. I really should have written a list of the things I needed to do in my holidays (mainly writing emails to folks I haven't been in contact with for far too long) but now it seems a bit late for that. Nothing much acomplished this time, suffice to say that I'm rather pleased that they don't weigh you before you get on a flight (yet)! The really fun thing is that a lot more snow is expected in DK tomorrow just round about the airport. Dare I hope for another day/week of holiday?

Saturday, January 2

Ah, the great Danish capital or brokenhagen as some now justly call it. Had a day out using the great invention that is 'orange tickets' from the Danish train company. It is just rather unfortunate that their website is one of the most useless I've come across, especially if you have a non-Danish IP address.
Anyway, it was bitterly cold so we spent most of the time indoor warming up drinking hot chocolate or eating. Good stuff. Unfortunately, I wasn't allowed to forget that I was in Denmark *sigh*.
I was sitting in the aisle seat and quietly hoping that the person wouldn't show up as the lady opposite my window seat was drinking beer at 9 am. Unfortunately the aisle seat person showed up and of all the things she could have said she went for this "Can I kick you. Forcefully." [freely translated from the Danish "Kan jeg sparke til dig. Eftertrykkeligt."]. She did say it in a light-ish voice but the last addition was unnecessary so I told her that she just also just ask nicely (since she said she'd kick me!). Her reply? She thought she had! If you use that kind of language you should expect to get something back as it was just impossible for me not to retaliate! She got somewhat offended which I thought was even funnier and even more Danish. This was a mature lady, wearing a seal fur coat, in the company of her 20-ish daughter. I rolled my eyes and laughed to myself.

Yay, I scored last night!!!! He even wanted to come home with me even though I'm staying with my parents which must be said to be brave. The fact that he was not yet 3 years old is just the story of my life. This can only bode well for the new year so let 2010 commence!

Thursday, December 31

So it is the last night of the year which this time happens also to be the end of a decade. No pressure then. I've actually spent an unusual amount of time thininking specifically about this post without coming up with anything. Looking back at last years post I can honestly say that not all that much has changed. It is just that 2009 past by rather quickly!
- I'm getting over the shock of realising that my parents are actually mere mortals
- I'm craving more of the holiday extravagansa of 2008 *sigh* but looking forward to my plans for 2010
- I'm still living with roomie
- I'm still wondering whether research really is for me
- Will I stay or will I leave Scotland?
Suppose that is it in a nutshell, really. The new year will be all about the big question, 'what will I do with my life?', as I'm sure it can be improved.
Anyway, I wish everyone a very happy, healthly, and good quality of life for 2010!

You Should Celebrate Friendship |
![]() It may have been a good year or a bad year, but no matter what, your friends helped get you through it. And you can't imagine celebrating New Year's Eve without your closest friends around. You are always happy to catch up with old friends on this night, and you're hoping to make some new ones too. So this year, raise a toast to old and new friends. They make every day of the year a little brighter. |
Well, actually it has never happened that I've spent New Years Eve with friends. It has always been with family or alone. This year my horoscope said I'd better take up any offers of attending parties so suppose I better get my ass in gear. I just want to go to bed. Really.

The Scottish themed Christmas tree. Not as bad as I thought it would be. It also turned out that a family lunch runs very smoothly when your intake of snaps/schnapps is large enough - new personal best set ready to be beat next year.
I've also been called a few things of late such as 'the other granny' quote from speedy boy nephew which is still better than my boss who left me a present on which the card said 'To not-Honey'. Yeah, I'm actually not impressed whether she'd forgotten her glasses or not but that is actually another post.
